Sewing Machine Cover

So I made this sewing machine cover!

I love it!

I used the butterick pattern B5368.

one of the ones I bought when it was on sale for like a $1

cause why should you ever buy a pattern at full price?

I did have to adjust the width of it to accomidate my machine.

and it was super easy!

i know i promised a project where i did the bias tape the "better way"

but the pattern wanted me to do it the cheater way!

lol. so I did. i'm just lazy like that. lol.

recognize the fabric?

it's from my fabric heart wreath i did a couple of months ago.

what can I say.....I LOVe the colors of the fabric.

plus I had enough left over

then i used the yellow and white stripe to create a ruffle.

because, everything is better with ruffles!!

plus the yellow just adds that little bit extra that i love

why did i take so many pics??

i dunno.....

i guess i'm just practicing my pic taking...

you know, with the poster board to create more lighting.....

a (wrinked. ugh) peice of fabric on the table....

oh well... another project done in the sewing month of september!

Lots more projects still to come that I haven't taken pics of yet

(mostly because they require me to be in the pic and i'm not ready to be photographed...lol....blame the pregnancy!)

1.  What is your Zodiac sign?

Gemini...yep, i'm a twin :)

2. Name 3 things that are always in your purse besides your wallet.

1. Trash...no seriously. i'm embarrassed to say it. but there is always receipts, crumbs and empty wrappers. gross, i know. but I have a 2 year old (that's the excuse)

2. My phone. unless it's in my pocket. 

3. random things i don't wish to carry....like a sippy cup, diapers or wipes, crayons, or a sweater.

3. Which magazines do you look at the most?

I don't usually....mostly just the Ensign (our church magazine that comes to my house)

4. Do you pluck or get your eyebrows waxed?

I pluck. it used to be a daily thing and they looked pretty dang professional.....now, not so much (you know, that 2 year old! lol)

5. How often do you go grocery shopping?

officially, once a week, sometimes more, sometimes less. depends on if i forgot something or if we bought plenty.

14-ish weeks

So...

i've reached 14 weeks. 

a few days ago, but still. lol

we had a doctor's appt.

k was really excited.

she always asks if the dr. is going to take the baby out.

she's very excited.

apparently she has a baby sister in her belly....in mine...she goes back and forth.

she understands big sister and so says sister most of the time.

Baby looks good. Got to hear the heartbeat again! exciting. 

i tried to convince them to do a sono, but nope :/ dang. 

I've had requests for a belly shot....so here it is.

it's large.

after meals it looks even larger :) 

 baby is about at my belly button so its high but on track :)

hopefully we will get some more pics up as we go along.....

potholders :)

So I made myself some potholders!

I used this tutorial.

The fabric matches the plastic bag holder that I made a few months ago! 

Dang excited about that. 

Hers look much prettier and more professional.

But that's ok! 

The first one, I didn't round one of the corners....oops! lol. 

it still works! :)

the second looks much better!

I used the cheater method on applying bias tape (made my own with my awesome 1" bias tape maker!)

I knew I would run out, so I used the yellow instead. 

I like it!

Next, I'm going to get serious with the bias tape and do it the "real" way! lol. 

there are tons of tutorials, but these were for me so i didn't really care. 

So please, no need to point out the mistakes...trust me...I saw them! :)

ALSO....

I don't have a fancy-schmacny stitch guide foot used in the tutorial. To get perfectly straight lines that go across to quilt the while thingy.....

(see the foot, plain as anything :)

but LOOK!! 

my lines are pretty decently straight!!

AWESOME!

How did I get this look without messing it up completely?

I will tell you.....

It's NOT because i'm THAT awesome of a free hand sewer. 

I wish.....maybe one day. lol. 

It's because my finger made the perfect guide!!

Seriously!!
