Get the Weight off Wednesday

                                                                                                        Source: helpwithweightloss.org via Lisa on Pinterest

Week 3

I swear....when I workout my face gets super red and I'm all gross and sweaty.
how can you look like a fox like that? lol. I try.
yes, i'm guilty of getting ready and putting on make-up to go to the gym.
yep.
no not to impress guys....who cares about them. I'm happily married to a hottie!
but i can't be seen out in public a hot mess and no make-up. call me superficial. whatevs.
but yes, all this hard work is to look like a fox....on to the report.....

Weigh-In:
my initial weight: 160 lbs
goal: 125 lbs/lose 35 lb

weight last week: 156 lbs
weight today: 154.4 lbs
Total loss:  1.6  lbs

left to goal:  29.4 lbs

Past week's workouts:

Wednesday: P90X Shoulders, Arms & ABS
Thursday: P90X stretch
Friday: P90X Legs, Back, & Abs. 35 min work-out at BUYi  {burpees, jump rope, & kettle bell squat throw things}
Saturday: KenpoX
Sunday: 35 min walk/jog
Monday: Elliptical 60 min
Tuesday: P90X Plyometrics 59 min

Hooray!
Back to losing the weight.
Apparently my body ready does need a very minimal amount of calories.
what's up with that?!?
I tried out 1485 as suggested by calorie count, and I was beyond starving. seriously, that was the hardest ever!
then after more investigation turns out I need a lot more since I'm breastfeeding. ooops!
So, I compromised....I'm at about 1690/day now. the next day that extra 200 was just enough to keep me satisfied, not famished. I know it's all about where those calories come from, but I an doing good. lots of fruits and veggies, proteins, some carbs.
I am not starving myself.  {I love food too much. lol.}  this past weekend was bad....so my numbers next week might not be too happy, I made samoa bars, cheesecake for hubby's birthday, and we made a trip to the local pizza buffet place. So this week, we need to work extra hard, I swear, if gain again..... lol.

Get the Weight off Wendesday

Week 2:

Weigh-In:
my initial weight: 160 lbs
goal: 125 lbs/lose 35 lb

weight last week: 154.8 lbs
weight today: 156 lbs
Total loss:  -1.2 lbs

left to goal:  31 lbs

Well, that's depressing....
I know it's all about muscle weighing more than fat.
I'm going to need to take measurements, because those are what really matter....I know I've gotten "smaller" {drew even says so.} On Sunday I wore a dress that I wore on mother's day and had wore 2/3 weeks ago to make it nursing friendly {post to come soon} and it was bigger than before.
but still....I want those numbers down.
I guess it didn't help that I made some "brownies" out of a cake mix.
or that we had taco bell last night {just tacos, nothing fancy....we're poor like that. lol}
I didn't want to "diet" since i'm breast feeding and don't want to hurt my supply at all, but seems like I really need to keep track of my calorie count. there are a bunch of hidden calories in everything....and I've learned that as long as i'm hydrated, my supply should be fine, that making milk takes priority over me, so baby won't suffer.
don't worry i can't/won't be starving myself! that's just dumb.

Past week's workouts:

Wednesday: P90X Shoulders, Arms & ABS
Thursday: P90X yoga
Friday: P90X Legs, Back, & Abs. 60 min work-out at BUYi  {lots of cardio/stairs}
Saturday: KenpoX
Sunday: REST day
Monday: P90X day 1 Chest & Back 53 min, AB ripperX 16 min, Circuit training at BYU 60 min {ball squats, dead lifts, rowing}
Tuesday: P90X Plyometrics 59 min

How do I feel?
SORE, still. something gets less sore and another part gets more sore. it is a vicious cycle.
but that's good, right?? I can tell the difference between my workouts last week and this week, I am getting better, stronger....i'm still not super good at it, but I do it. last week was hard getting through each rep. this week, it's still hard, but not as hard. good! success!

Next Week:
I start Brazillian Butt lift! Well, hopefully....some of the DVDs were left at my mom's house and I'm waiting on them to arrive. I plan on doing a modified version or the program in addition to P90X and only on Tues., Wed., & Thurs. since I'm already doing 2 workouts on the other days. We will see ;)
It's Memorial Day weekend, so the goal is to not over-indulge....stay healthy and portion control! :)

* * * * * * * * * * * * * *

How was your week?
What do you do to combat soreness??

Funny police blotter stuff....

I love living in a small town, the funniest things make the paper!
In the "News of Record" for May 4 - May 11 there is a Law Enforcement Summary section right after the Marriages and Divorces granted. For some reason I found a few of these funny...the rest are odd
from the Local police department this includes:
-Animal complaint -- A poodle was found
-Vehicle theft report -- A car was reported stolen from Summerset Apartments. Then the woman realized she had parked in another apartment parking lot the day before.
-Complaint of a man looking lost. He could not remember where his apartment was when asked.
from the county sherrif's office:
-Complaint of an uncle acting crazy and getting into people's faces
-Complaint of a moose with a broken leg trying to cross the road
-Report of a wife acting suspicious. When her husband picked her up from work she said she was going to disappear. She is wandering around _______(insert town name.)
from the neighboring county's sheriff's department:
-report of a suspicous male sleeping on top of his car by the Colonial Baptist Church.
-Suspicious Circumstances-A woman pulled into her driveway and saw a tall man with dark clothes standing in her yard. The man wouldn't leave but just stood there. There are no vehicles around that don't belong in the neighborhood.
-Report of a dog with a big growth on his leg.

ok, maybe some of these aren't funny. and now I am kind of questioning this post. but oh well. I laughed at a few of these, and I can't see how people call to report these things....a dog with a growth? hmmmm.....
And why would that man let his wife wander around after that??? crazy!
this is exactly how they were in the paper.....no lie.

Get the Weight off Wednesday

Week 1

This past week wasn't so bad.
I got the all clear from my doc and can workout. I have been reading about working out and breast feeding, you know...the do's and don'ts...and it's great that I can't exactly restrict my calories, I need about 1800 a day, sweet! But I know that it can't be on junk. DUH!
But it's nice that I can eat some junk--in moderation :)
I made pretzels last night. and ate some. made salted ones and cinnamon and sugar. they are kind of not so good the next day....weird.

ok....So I decided to actually post my weight. UGH!!
hahahaha. I don't care.
I just had a baby. and I have weight to lose.
{yes, i'm fat}
But that's the whole point of these posts!!!!
I'm not going to sit there on the couch and complain about it.....I'm going to do something about it.
I understand that I'm not one of the genetically lucky ones that gain only 20 lbs or less during their pregnancy, or walk home in regular jeans, or that lose the weight they gained within the first 6 weeks post-partum. nope. not me. I only lost about 10-15 from the birth! I also don't lose weight from breastfeeding alone. nope. sorry. it doesn't make me stick thin. kind of sucky...but then, I saw this:

we are a different breed.
we think differently, we act differently.
and there is nothing wrong with it.
we are humans, we are all different.
we are supposed to be.

SO...

Weigh-in:
{Don't judge me}

my initial weight: 160 lbs
goal: 125 lbs/lose 35 lb
weight last week: 160 lbs
weight today: 154.8 lbs
Total loss: 5.2 lbs
left to goal: 29.8 lbs

Okay, So this might not be entirely accurate since I initially weighed myself in the late afternoon, after I had already eaten lunch. And I was wearing clothes. Plus, I still have swelling that I need to get rid of. from here on out I will do it first thing in the am, naked-ish.
I know it will be a slow weight loss, that's ok. that's what you are supposed to be doing.
fun fact: you will have an extra 3 lbs of breast tissue if you are nursing!

This week's workouts:

Wednesday: Walk 35 min {carrying baby}
Thursday: Elliptical 46 min
Friday:
Saturday:
Sunday:
Monday: P90X day 1 Chest & Back 53 min, AB ripperX 16 min, Circuit training at BYU 60 min
Tuesday: P90X Plyometrics 59 min

How do I feel?
sore as heck!! seriously! I can barely sit down on the toilet. my legs won't bend that much.
maybe I did too much on Monday, since I also went to train with friends from church. But....I haven't done so much in so long, it didn't really matter....I was going to be sore.
I like that feeling. lets you know you did something.
I am sleeping deeper, harder than before....but that also means that when I have to get up to nurse miss R, I am nodding off during. but so is she, so whatevs.
I missed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. oops. I'm sure I did other activities to make up for it. but it wasn't an actual workout.

Next week:
Everyday will be filled {even if it's just to stretch-cuz you still need to warm up to do that!}

It's sunny outside and I just want to go lay out. oh how I wish I could....
but there is a baby waiting to be fed and a 3-year old who needs a friend :)

* * * * * * * *
How did you do last week?
What are your work-out goals for the week?

Ryleigh's Blessing

On Sunday, April 22nd it was Ryleigh's blessing day.
It was a beautiful warm day. A little windy, but sunny.
Church is at 1:30 so we got there nice and early

Thankfully, I read on Michelle's blog about having someone take notes!
PERFECT
I always forget anything that is said and I want to remember this.
Drew was super nervous.
like reallly, really nervous!!
it was cute.
but he did a wonderful job!
What a great thing to have a worthy priesthood holder in your home. Such a blessing.
And the fact that Grandpa and Uncle Jared were able to come and help, makes it even more special.
we appreciate them and the time they took to get here {and money spent on plane tickets :)}
Drew's bestfriend Andrew VW lives here and also helped, as well as Bishop Egbert and Brother Bitter from the High Council

Some of the blessings:

-to recognize the spirit and being able to listen to it
-the spirit will influence you to make good decisions
-to be a beacon and an example to all those around you, including your family and your big sister.
-courage and strength to stand for what is right and to live righteously
-to find a worthy priesthood holder to help you on your celestial journey and to bring you to the temple

 {thank you so much to Monika for writing these down for me!}

love grandma/grandpa time!

We took lots of pictures and K was super excited and energetic.
so she needed some tickle time from auntie Amber.

just for you all....this is what a crazy 3 year old really does on the side lines of pictures...you know...when she is DONE.
quite funny thou!
what exactly is she doing here?!?!
weirdo!

and one last pic of the girl of the day!
wearing some wonderfully croched booties that Great Grandma Erickson made {i believe...}
cute!!
Oh. Miss R is wearing K's blessing dress, why not?
Big thanks again to all those who participated!! :)

Get the weight off Wednesday.0

So, I had all these plans on doing this post every single Wednesday about my postpartum weight loss journey.....but now I am second guessing them.

my new scale came today, i stepped on.....and cried.

I was going to post about my current weight and how much I needed to lose, complete with measurements and photos
but I seriously don't know if I can now.
{hence, no pics of me since having miss R}
I am not comfortable with it....in a way I am, but I am just really insecure about it.
Truthfully, I don't even want you, my readers, to see me like this. Let alone anyone else who randomly stops by from the internet.
it terrifies me.
I don't even like my own husband to see me like this.
{he still thinks i'm hot....but still}

Nothing fits me.
Nothing looks good on me.
Even maternity shirts are too tight now...how?
did I gain weight somewhere? looks like it.
my boobs are so dang huge it's not cool. at.all.
I hate having big boobs anyways, they make you look fatter than you are. I'd much rather have this big booty with wide hips. guess the grass is always greener.

Maybe next Wednesday will be different, maybe those measurements & photos will be posted...maybe.
I miss the days pre-babies when I was like 112 lbs {which didn't look to good on me, but still}
I don't expect my body to be the same after a baby....i know from having #1
for now....my goal is pretty big.
I wanted it to be done by the Erickson Family Reunion in July {a week in cali!}
but it might not happen like that. Actually, it's not looking good.
I started working out this week {slowly-for some reason my knees are still hurting}
Next week we are supposed to start P90X again.
My diet has been pretty good
My goal is to at least work out for 30 min a day, keep drinking about 90-120 oz of water a day, and to lose 1-2 lbs a week
I know I have to do it slowly, no fad diets or extreme weight loss...plus, I'm nursing so I need to protect my supply.

SO this past week, we will call it week 0....since I'm not even cleared to really work out yet

Sunday: Walk 30 min {w/ baby}
Monday: Elliptical 47 min
Tuesday: Walk 45 min {w/ baby}
Today: TBD

Post Partum

Let's be honest here....let's get down to the nitty gritty...
{warning: TMI!}
I think the part I hate the most about pregnancy is the post partum junk
seriously....if you have ever been pregnant, you might know a bit about what I'm talking about. If you haven't experienced it yet....well, take some notes. lol
If you haven't experienced what I list here....well....good for you :P

1. It can be hard to walk or even move without peeing yourself. it's not fun. I learned with #1 the hard way {as I was peeing as I tried to get to the bathroom} with #2 I made sure I went every 1-2 hours, just to make sure there were less accidents. You get to use a nice water bottle to squirt as you go {if it burns} or to just clean, cause you can't wipe, only pat dry.
2. You will bleed....lots. they give you these massive sized pads to help with that. Might as well be wearing depends. it would make it easier & can kill 2 birds with 1 stone {see #1.} They are good for when you go home. then you can reduce size of pads from there. Having a C-section? well, fyi, you will still bleed.
3. You will be sore - In your body - like a truck hit you, or you got beat up or something. In weird random ways. It will ache. Pushing is hard on your body and even if you only push for 20 mins, it makes you sore. Heck, I think the act of being in labor makes you sore. C-section: yeah, they will cut you open, that will make your body hurt.
4. You will be sore - down there - like you just got ripped open. like it's swollen and sore and it makes you sad. You may be tempted to look--DON'T. ok, you can, it's not THAT bad. but I suggest waiting a week or two. unless you haaave to, like you think you busted a stitch. Ice packs that they give you in the hospital help, use them.
5. All the horrible aches and pains that came along with your pregnancy probably won't go away overnight. if at all....I am 4.5 weeks pp and still have swelling, still have numbness in my right hand from carpel tunnel. It took 3 weeks for my hip pain to go away. 2.5 weeks for my pubic symphysis pain to go. I still have back pain and spasms. Still cannot sit comfortably in this chair.
6. If you get an epidural....there are side effects. don't forget that. My spine burt so bad for about a week after. at the site and all the way up to my neck. then, sometimes my back would lock-up or spasm. not so much fun when you are taking care of a newborn, let alone the other children you have.
7. Your joints will hurt. I don't know why but my knees are killing me. they hurt so dang bad whenever I have to get up or down, or anything.
8. Breastfeeding hurts so dang bad!!! I'm not gonna lie....the initial latch hurts like glass being pulled out. but it only lasts for a few seconds then goes away. Then it's the next boob & more pain. Plus, if you are lucky, like me....whenever you have a let-down, it feels like your whole chest is cramping up, like a charlie horse in your boobs. This will happen even at random times, when you are "supposed" to be feeding the baby {like every 2 hours, even if they eat every 3-ish-or every hour!}
9. Engorgment--have you ever wanted to know what it feels like to have breast implants? Like the kind that are ridiculously too big?  Well, just miss a feeding and you will know! Miss R slept for 7 hours straight the friday night she turned 1 week! and I woke up wet and in pain! my boob was gi-normous! and hard as a rock. Poor girlie got a mouthful when she ate, that stuff can come out fast!
10. Nothing will fit you. Nothing! unless you go home in your pre-pregnancy jeans, it won't look pretty. {I will get into that in another post!} Maternity clothes look stupid without the cute baby bump. and your pre pregnancy clothes will be small. You know how they say you will look about 6 mos preggo when you go home? yeah, not me. your belly is deflated but still there. I suggest living in some great looking yoga pants for the time being.
11. Night sweats. remember the swelling I was talking about? well, that all has to come out somehow. people say you pee it out. well, i believe you also sweat it out. You will wake in the night to feed the baby and will be so grossly sweaty. ugh. nasty.
12. Crazy emotions. Thought those would go away after the baby came? Pfffft!!! You will be weepy, very emotional. they do level out eventually, some people, quicker than others and some people....well, postpartum depression is real. people are usually ashamed of it too. but there are ways to treat it if you just talk it over with your doctor.

That seems like a lot.
I'm not complaining....just putting it out there.
I love my babies!
I will be waiting a little while to have more, unless something else happens....
I didn't cover everything, and I didn't have a c-section, so, I can't be too accurate. Just don't quote me....this is just from my experiences.

I am bittersweet about my 6 week check-up
PRO: I can be cleared to do some hard-core workouts again {i already have my p90x schedule worked out.} I can be cleared to have sex again! I get peace of mind that everything is OK down there.
CON: I am terrified of the exam. I am terrified to have sex again. weird? yup, i know....but i'm scared things are just going to rip right back open. yikes...seriously scared.
